We would like to congratulate Professor Roz Anderson, Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Sunderland, who has been recognised with a ‘Women in STEM WIN award’ last month.
The award recognises Roz’s commitment to the development of medicinal chemistry throughout her career, in particular her work to develop improved treatments for cystinosis. Many of you will have met Roz at a cystinosis conference, demonstrating progress in her cystinosis prodrug project, which your donations are helping to fund.
Our chairman, Roy Forsyth said: “A consummate professional, it has been truly inspiring to work with Professor Anderson. She has been able to communicate her complex research not only to her peers but to the parents of children with this condition with ease. She makes a point of attending patient conferences and takes time to speak to the cystinosis community, purely out of compassion. I think Professor Anderson does what she does because she cares and she knows what this means to our small community. We count our blessings that someone like Roz has dedicated so much of her life to our cause.”
