Wearside Youngsters Awarded For Their Bravery

On 15th November, the Pride of Wearside awards took place in front of an audience of 400 people at Sunderland Football Club’s "Stadium of Light". Five youngsters were chosen to receive awards in recognition of the bravery they have displayed in battling illnesses, which in some cases are terminal. This included 15-year-old Sarah Laing, who was diagnosed with Cystinosis at 18 months and now has to undergo dialysis 3 days a week, 52 weeks a year.
