A wonderful night was had by all on Saturday 4th February at the Gosling Sports Centre in Hertfordshire. Organised by Tracy Lambe, cousin to Sinêad and Ciara Maguire who both have Cystinosis, it was a fundraiser for Cystinosis research.
Approximately 250 people attended and were entertained by a fabulous 5-piece band called “Picture This” who kindly donated their services free of charge.
The funds were raised by charging for admission, selling raffle tickets and a very successful auction. All prizes were donated and included two separate Spanish holidays, a shirt signed by Sir Geoff Hurst, a jersey signed by the current Arsenal squad, a Spurs shirt signed by Robbie Keane, a break in the splendid health spa, Champneys, and many others.
Former world champion boxer, Steve Collins (pictured here with Ciara and Sinêad), was MC for the night and was instrumental in achieving great prices in the auction. He was very entertaining and really got the room involved in a bidding war.
A splendid buffet was laid on and I would like to thank all the various members of the Lambe family who prepared and served the food. An extra special thank you to Tracy and her team for such hard work, but at the end Tracy was delighted with the outcome and may even consider doing it again!
Approximately £7,000 was raised and will go directly to Cystinosis research.
