On July 29th over 25 walkers took part in an organised sponsored walk around Aden Country Park, near Mintlaw in the North East of Scotland, to raise funds for the Cystinosis Foundation UK. The 3.5 mile walk was organised by Elizabeth Forsyth whose grandaughter, Lena, has Cystinosis. “I started out hoping to raise £100” said Elizabeth, but at the last count the total was likely to exceed £500!
As well as the walk around the park grounds, Elizabeth had a small stall selling home made goods to help raise further money. And she was helped on the day by her husband, Jimmy, as well as other family members, who helped put up signs around the route and act as marshalls.
Prior to the event, local radio station, Wave Radio, and local paper, The Buchan Observer, promoted the walk, free of charge, encouraging people to either participate or sponsor the walkers. And Elizabeth is grateful for their generous publicity.
Congratulations to Elizabeth who has not only raised a signficant amount of money, but also enabled many people to have a great day out in Aden Country Park. This is only one of several events that Elizabeth has organised for the Foundation and we thank her for her continued support.
