Simultaneous kidney transplant for twins

A ground breaking kidney transplant operation has recently been carried out on 10-year-old twin girls, who both suffer from Cystinosis. The twins each received a kidney from the same donor on the same day and are recovering well from their operations. Their mother, Rachel Dalomba, thanked the donor’s family saying, “I thank them because they gave both girls a chance to live a full and healthy life”.

The story has been reported on several news websites including Chicago Suntimes and msnbc.com.
