In September this year, Paul Clifford is hoping to cycle around 778km through Spain and France in order to raise money for the Cystinosis Foundation UK. This money will be used to fund the Foundation’s activities and research into Cystinosis. However, a bike is desperately required in order for this cycle to take place. If anyone can help in any way (either providing a bike or information on how one can be acquired), please contact us.
We wish Paul all the best in organising the cycle trip and his training towards this strenuous event.
Proposed Route:
Some 778km long, starting either in St. Jean-Pied-du-Port (St. John at the Foot of the Pass) on the French side of both the mountains and the border or 27km later in Roncesvalles (Roncevaux in French, the Valley of Thorns) in Spain. It passes through Pamplona, Puente la Reina, Estella, Logroño, Burgos, León, Astorga, Ponferrada and Sarria before it reaches the City of the Apostle in the western reaches of Galicia. The route takes, on average, 4-5 weeks to walk.
